⭐️ Temperament and description: Calypso doesn’t have a nasty bone in her body, she’s a sweetheart. She’s incredibly intelligent and would excel in natural horsemanship! But she is new to our world, prior to me Calypso was a wild brumby. So understandably everything is quite new and scary. But she’s doing amazing considering and she really honestly does try her hardest. She has a lovely kind eye, ears that are constantly forward and very trusting. She is underweight but after worming and delouse I expect her to start gaining weight a little more rapidly.
⭐️Handling: Calypso leads well considering. Sometimes a little bit hesitant but she’s still learning and this will only improve with time. She’s been stabled and doesn’t seem to have any issues with fencing, in fact she’s very respectful of them. As for catching in a small confined area you can catch her with a carrot stick and a lead but currently (seeing as she’s only just come home from the trainers) she’s dragging a lead. Calypso allows a trusted person to touch her, I’ve included videos to show you how she is with me and I’m happy to explain and work with her future owner to show you how to connect with her. She’s not head shy and allows face scratches. Calypso has learnt the basics of yielding to pressure and lunging in a round yard. She’s happy to have her legs touched with a carrot stick but I haven’t tried to pick them up by hand as of yet (too much too soon in my opinion).
⭐️ Transport: Calypso has travelled in a stock crate so far and has done so marvellously. Her balance is phenomenal and she isn’t fazed by trucks or anything passing you. Depending on the location of Calypso’s new home I would be happy to drop her off if need be.
⭐️Paddocked on her own as she’s been fed hard feed and hay daily, with a few visits a day for training and it makes her easier to catch.
⭐️Why Calypso is looking for her new home: I’ve sat on the fence a lot when it comes to Calypso and what to do. The facts are I work shift-work and long hours travelling across Melbourne. This means my hours are limited to spend with her and I don’t think that’s fair on Calypso. So I think the best decision for Calypso is to find her a home where she can have it all and a human that has enough time for her.
⭐️Movement: Incredibly smooth with a beautiful canter and trot. I’ve got a few snippets of her movement I’ll include so you can see for yourself.
⭐️Calypso’s New human will need to be trusting, patient, full of love and needs to understand that she needs time and consistency.
